The Story

After years of hands-on experience and studying horse behaviour all across the globe, we have seen many different approaches to life with horses. We strive to raise more awareness about the difference between teaching a horse to understand its job with violence-free methods, rather than creating compliant horses based on the fear of consequence. Our methods are rooted in natural horsemanship, ethology and psychology. This means we adapt to how a horse learns and sees the world when we are teaching them something. By breaking training down into easy to understand steps, we accelerate their learning, create confidence and lay a proper Foundation For Success.

In our sessions, we encourage horses to be curious, relaxed and respectful of boundaries. More importantly we would like to give you a safe space to learn more about your horse, grow together and to have fun again!

Meet Daphne

In this section I will not be writing as a business, but as a human being. Many people ask me how I got to where I am today. I can come up with all the basic answers of how I rolled into certain educations, internships and businesses.

But the truth is, I have a dream.

Ever since I was a little girl, (yes, the grumpy one being held onto a shetland by her mum) I loved horses!

I grew up riding, mucking out and having a blast with them. More importantly, horses were a safe space for me, a place to go when life wasn't all that fun, a place to be myself, learn and grow.

Over the years I have been active internationally in 6 different countries in a variety of branches. From being a horse behaviourist and trainer for Grant Bazin with horses that have severe problems to working in the education of thoroughbred foals for FoalNZ. Even though the people and organizations I have worked with were amazing to the core, having been able to see so many facets of the equine industry has made me realise that horses do not always have a safe space to understand what is expected of them. And I want to change that!

I want to provide a healthy, effective & easy-to-access training environment for both horses and people.

Pinpoint Horsemanship is my way to give back to horses and their owners. I want this business to be a safe space for people to learn and for horses to be trained; violence-free and based on science and experience.

Horse & Behaviour Instructor ORUN 3

This 4 year study by e-quine.com by Annemarie van der Toorn lays a strong focus on equine health, ethology, psychology & biomechanics. As well as learning theory & didactics to apply when instructing people. This study had final exams consisting of live horse training, a 30 cases portfolio of well-solved behavioural issues, theoretical tests, live and portfolio teaching exams & live biomechanic judgement.

Cultural Anthropology & Development Sociology BSc

This 4 year education by Leiden University teaches its students the theory of why people behave the way they do, focusing on social behaviours learned in various contexts, such as diverse beliefs, practices, values and language. For Pinpoint, this knowledge transfers well into understanding the how and the why in the current culture of the equine industry.

The Team

The Pinpoint Team currently consists of two members: Daphne & Bob.

Daphne was introduced in the previous section, but Bob is quite the employee!

He earned his stripes as an Expert Dummy by preparing horses, big and small, for their first rider, NEVER falling off & occasionally answering emails.
